Last November, I had an allergy eye issue when we moved the clocks back and I took the week off from posting. You did not get to hear my absolute hate-fire regarding the time change. Moving into Daylight Saving Time is even worse for me; however, it does coincide with Spring Break, so that softens the blow…a bit.
I’ve spent more time focusing on the seasons and the changing light this year, and that has made me acutely aware of just how rude DST is. Sunset today is at 6:09 pm. On Sunday, that will increase by an hour. Abrupt. Rude. Some may even say…intolerable. Yet, we will adapt and adjust. We always do. Humans are remarkable in that way.
I’ve always liked poetry and I dabble in it from time to time. I’m also reading a book where one of the characters is a poet, so I feel inspired today to close with my own poem in honor of DST.
Ode to DST The sun rises and sets Regardless of what the clock says. The birds chirp and Squirrels complete their to-do’s, Each following their own clock. Time is fluid, driven by the light, This Monday is going to suck.
Have a great week, everyone!
